Dr. Ann Stadelmaier

Dr. Ann Stadelmaier was the former executive director of Hearing Evaluation Services (HES) and a Kenmore Lion who passed away on August 30, 2006 after a long battle with cancer. As an audiologist and Lion, Dr. Stadelmaier was committed to helping individuals with hearing loss obtain hearing aids regardless of their financial circumstances.  Shortly before she passed away, the HES Board of Directors approached Dr. Stadelmaier to see if there was anything they could do in honor of all of her years of service to HES. True to her mission, Dr. Stadelmaier asked them to continue the work she had begun with the Lions club, providing affordable hearing aids to those in financial need. A team of  her co-workers and Lions, in conjunction with the University at Buffalo’s Speech Language and Hearing Clinic, developed the Fund in the fall of 2006 in memory of this amazing woman and audiologist. HES proudly continues to offer this Fund in her legacy.

Dr. Stadelmaier started her career in 1972 as a speech language pathologist in the public schools. She went on to receive her Masters Degree in Audiology from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1984 and her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida in 2000. Dr. Stadelmaier began working with HES in June of 1984 and was appointed as executive director in 2000.

Over the years, Dr. Stadelmaier worked with hundreds if not thousands of hearing impaired patients. She devoted herself to finding the best solutions to help people hear and communicate better. Dr. Stadelmaier was known for her compassion, creativity, patience, and technical skill.

Dr. Stadelmaier was committed to sharing her knowledge and passion for better hearing. She was an adjunct clinical instructor for the University at Buffalo, passing on her expertise to audiology students. Dr. Stadelmaier was also active in the professional community and had served as the president of the Western New York Academy of Audiology and was a member of the New York State Speech Hearing and Language Association.

Lions Club InternationalOne of Dr. Stadelmaier’s greatest gifts to the Western New York community was the role she played in the Lions Club. As the Hearing Chair for District 20-N, she worked diligently to educate people about hearing loss, hearing protection and the options available for helping people to hear better. She also performed hearing screenings at numerous community events and collected used hearing aids to help people with hearing loss who could not otherwise afford hearing aids. It was in this spirit that the Dr. Ann Stadelmaier Fund was developed. Ann would have been extremely pleased to know that even now she continues to aid the hearing impaired in Western New York.
